Alan Evans
Interim Head of the International and Strategic Partnerships Office
National Oceanography Centre, UK

Alan Evans is the Head of the International and Strategic Partnerships Office at the National Oceanography Centre, UK, providing policy advice relating to Marine Scientific Research, as in accordance with Part XIII of UNCLOS, as well as enabling the provision of transfer of marine technology, as in accordance with Part XIV of UNCLOS. Alan is Alternate Head of the UK delegation at the IOC‐UNESCO, and has represented the UK during sessions with the UN’s Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS), the UN Preparatory Committee on Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) and at the UN Ocean Conference. He also leads the National Oceanography Centre’s component of the Commonwealth Marine Economies Programme. He is particularly interested in fostering relationships with developing states and the UK Overseas Territories to develop capacity in marine science to help them in enabling sustainable management of their marine estates.
