Brief Biography

Thema Ward
Physical Planning Officer
Department of Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Environment, St. Kits and Nevis

Thema Ward currently holds the position of Physical Planning Officer in the Department of Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Environment on the island of Nevis. She has an Environmental background in Geography, Environmental Management as well as the Marine Sector. Thema’s day to day activities entails but not limited to overseeing Environmental matters, preparing work plans and assisting with the preparation of environmental policies and guidelines, introduce Environmental Management Plans (EMP) and assisting her Department to achieve compliance with environmental policies and agreements.

Thema has been privileged to be the point person on the island of Nevis for several marine and biodiversity projects and committees. One of the many projects she has been involved with is the establishing of the St. Kitts and Nevis Marine Management Area (SKN MMA). She is also a member of WiMAC (Women in Maritime Association Caribbean), National Liaison for St. Kitts and Nevis, and sits on the Membership and Administration Committee of WiMAC. As an advocate for environmental matters, Thema is a member of the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society and the Nevis Turtle Group. Thema, looks forward in sharing information on MMA’s in this St. Kitts Climate Smart Sustainable Tourism Forum.
